Bio

I live in Perth, Western Australia, with my fantastic husband and two awesome sons!

I have been always been passionate about music, and have worked in many related fields before finally deciding to follow my dream of being a composer.

As a qualified and experienced primary school teacher, I have often taught music in schools, as well as taking on private students for piano, voice and music theory.  I have also worked as a wedding singer and DJ, and have performed in semi-professional Gilbert & Sullivan productions.

Piano was the first instrument I ever learned, from the age of 8, and since then have received instruction in voice, flute and cello.  At the moment, I am teaching myself the guitar and the piano accordion.

Since commencing my music studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (graduated 2009 - 1st class Hons), I have had increasing opportunities to have my compositions performed in public.  Many of my chamber works have been premiered in various venues around Perth, including the Llama Bar, the Bakery and the Ellington Jazz Club.  In 2007, I was nominated for a West Australian Screen Award for the short film, Silent Beauty, and really enjoy collaborating on different projects with directors, choreographers and other musicians.

In the beginning of 2010, I founded a composers collective, called Granular Synthesis, with four other Perth creative artists.  Our aim is to provide a forum for the performance of new, local music works, written by ourselves and others.
