Music Sample: A Little Jaunt

Jaunt by name and very jaunty by nature, this energetic piece takes advantage of the piano’s dynamic versatility and wide pitch range. Hands converge and diverge throughout this brusque and bumpy journey, with many twists and turns along the way. Directions are deliciously unpredictable, yet always fresh and inviting.

Music Sample: Holiday

A fun and catchy swing piece, featuring sax, violin and piano. Enjoy!

Music Sample: Collision Tango

Collision Tango is a fun and feisty piece, which unashamedly embraces many elements of the Nuevo Tango, as developed by Astor Piazzolla. Repeated melodic themes, chromatic modulations, strong rhythms and a contemplative interlude are featured, as the two pianos alternately converge, combat and compliment each other. The short coda harks back to many of the earlier themes in a luscious jumble, before an abrupt ending. This performance was played by David Wickham and Fay Gao.

Music Sample: Sufi Spiral

A recent performance of "Sufi Spiral" by Shayne Harris.
This work is inspired by the calm spirituality of the Sufi Muslims, based in Konya, Turkey. The performer reads a spiral-like graphic score and uses techniques suggested by written instructions.
